Since the 1st January 2021, customs formalities are required to move goods from Great

Britain (GB) to Ireland. This includes movements of goods to, or from, GB through

Northern Ireland (NI).


Revenue has added new information to the website outlining the customs formalities

required to move the goods from GB, through NI,to Ireland.


To move goods in this manner you will need to submit declarations to both Irish

Revenue and Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) systems.

There are two customs clearance options when bringing goods from GB, through NI, into

Ireland.


You can complete the import formalities in Northern Ireland (NI) or use the transit procedure and raise a transit declaration in GB and complete the import formalities in Ireland.
