This week’s developments reflect significant changes across U.S. trade, customs, and enforcement policy.
CBP and USTR implemented the U.S.–EU Framework Agreement, revising HTSUS codes, refund rules, and Section 232 tariffs on autos, aircraft, and pharmaceuticals. We have a special report and invite you to an exclusive briefing for PRO subscribers
President Trump announced sweeping tariffs on pharmaceuticals (100%), cabinetry (50%), and furniture (30%), effective 1 October.
USDA tightened controls on Canadian poultry imports due to avian influenza, while easing Austria’s FMD restrictions and aligning walnut import rules.
Türkiye lifted retaliatory tariffs on U.S. rice, nuts, and spirits, reopening valuable markets.
CBP advanced ACE modernization, adding ACH refund functionality and promoting global interoperability standards.
Commerce confirmed AD/CVD duties on Chinese and Vietnamese molded fiber products, with prohibitive margins exceeding 200% for most exporters.
Preliminary findings in silicon metal and chassis investigations impose steep duties on Angola, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam.
ITA and ITC rulings continued duties on Chinese cabinets, vanities, door springs, wood flooring, and Italian steel, while targeting wire mesh circumvention from Mexico.
Federal Circuit upheld Section 301 tariffs on China (Lists 3 & 4A), closing refund claims and affirming USTR’s broad trade authority.
CBP issued a Withhold Release Order on Giant Manufacturing (Taiwan) over forced labor concerns, halting U.S. bicycle imports reported new illegal smuggling attempts in Texas, reinforcing its enforcement and interagency response efforts.
USITC launched reviews on high-purity dissolving pulp, MSG, prestressed steel wire, and other goods, signaling continued vigilance in AD/CVD enforcement.
