To import Products of Animal Origin (POAO), plants, and other high-risk products into the EU, businesses need to create a Common Health Entry Document (CHED) in the TRACES system. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to create an EU-CHED:

Step-by-Step: Creating an EU-CHED in TRACES

1. Access TRACES NTGo to the TRACES NT portal. Log in using your credentials or create an account if you don’t have one.

   
   

2. Select the Appropriate CHED Type

   • CHED-PP for plants and plant products.

   • CHED-P for products of animal origin (POAO).

   • CHED-A for animals.

   • CHED-D for food and feed of non-animal origin. Choose the CHED type that corresponds to your product.

     
     

3. Start a New CHED ApplicationClick on the "New" button on the dashboard to start a new CHED application. Select the country of origin and the EU border control post (BCP) where the consignment will be checked.

   
   

4. Complete Section I – Consignment Details Enter details about the consignment, including:

   • Consignor and consignee: Add the names and addresses of the exporter and the importer.

   • Transport Information: Indicate how the goods will be transported (road, air, sea, or rail).

   • Type of Goods: Provide details on the imported product, such as the product description and CN code.

     
     

5. Attach Relevant Documents Upload any certificates or documentation required for the consignment, such as veterinary certificates, phytosanitary certificates, or commercial documents.

   
   

6. Enter Product-Specific InformationFor products of animal origin or high-risk goods, include:

   • Species of origin.

   • Quantity (weight or number of units).

   • Packaging details.

   • Intended use (e.g., for human consumption, further processing).

     
     

7. Submit for Official Control After completing the form, submit the CHED for validation. The relevant authorities at the Border Control Post (BCP) will review the application and inspect the goods upon arrival.
