About the Regulatory Affairs Team

The Regulatory Affairs team oversees regulations for safe and legal seafood production and trade from catch to retail or food service. They assist businesses of all sizes in understanding and complying with import, export, and domestic regulations.

Job Role and Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Monitoring: Track changes to regulations and official guidance across the seafood chain.

  • Guidance Development: Analyze legislation and develop materials to help the industry comply with trade laws.

  • Relationship Building: Establish effective relationships with the seafood sector, enforcement agencies, and regulators.

  • Information Sharing: Collaborate with UK and international trade organizations to share insights on trading issues.

  • Trade Forums: Provide guidance to Seafish importers and exporters forums.

  • Issue Resolution: Act as the point of contact for resolving international trade and customs issues.

  • Content Creation: Produce guidance materials on changes in the trading environment.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with other Seafish teams to meet organizational goals.

  • Ad-Hoc Support: Respond to inquiries as needed.


Key Attributes

  • Experience: Significant international seafood trade experience, working independently.

  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of trade processes, incoterms, customs declarations, and border procedures.

  • Communication: Ability to convey complex regulatory information to diverse audiences.

  • Problem Solving: Identify new issues, manage responses, and provide expert advice.

  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain effective relationships with industry stakeholders and regulators.

  • IT Competency: Proficient with IT systems and report writing.


Salary and Benefits

  • Starting Salary: £36,918
