What we cover in the Pdf:


  •   EU–US Framework Deal: Brussels and Washington agreed to a 15% tariff ceiling on most EU goods, zero tariffs on aircraft, cork, and pharmaceuticals, plus €600 billion EU investment in U.S. industry.

  • Japan Pact: The U.S.–Japan agreement cuts auto tariffs from 27.5% to 15%, includes $550 billion Japanese investment in U.S. supply chains, and boosts U.S. rice, corn, and defense exports.

  • De Minimis Ends: CBP confirms the end of duty-free Section 321 clearance from 29 August—all shipments now require formal or informal entry.

  • Section 232 Expansion: BIS will accept new HTSUS requests each January, May, and September to expand the list of goods hit by the 50% steel and aluminum tariffs.

  • India Duties: CBP’s HSU 2533 adds extra duties on Indian products under EO 14329 effective 27 August.

  • Canada Retreats: Ottawa drops 25% counter-tariffs on USMCA goods, a concession to keep Trump negotiations alive, though steel and auto tariffs remain.

  • Critical Minerals List: USGS proposes 54 critical minerals (adding copper, silver, lead, silicon, potash, rhenium) with direct Section 232 trade implications.

  • CBP Fees Up: Starting 1 October, CBP user fees will increase by 2.59% across formal entry and merchandise processing categories.

  • ·         Quota Pressure: Specialty sugar quota oversubscribed at opening; 23.6% pro rata allocation applied.

  • ·         FDA Import Alerts: Expanded alerts hit antibiotics, vitamins, shrimp, and medical products—detention without physical exam is rising.

  • ·         AD/CVD Surge: Commerce launched new AD/CVD cases on monomers from Taiwan, polypropylene boxes from China, slag pots from China, and CORE steel from 10 countries.

  • ·         WTO Challenges: The WTO DSB reviewed major U.S. disputes on steel, appliances, IP, and agriculture—decisions could reset U.S. customs enforcement.

  • ·         WCO Updates: WCO released an updated Guide on Origin Irregularities and hosted a TBML Roundtable in the UK, spotlighting AML and customs cooperation.

  • ·         Forced Labor: DHS issued its 2025 UFLPA strategy update, tightening supply chain expectations for importers.
