Sanctions Updates
The EU's 17th sanctions package targets Russia's shadow fleet of oil tankers and designates approximately 60 individuals and entities in countries like Vietnam and Turkey that facilitate sanctions evasion. The EU has explicitly linked further sanctions to Russia's willingness to engage in ceasefire negotiations.
The EU Council has also adopted Decision 2025/904 creating a presumption that asset transfers by Russian oligarchs after February 2022 constitute sanctions evasion. This groundbreaking approach places the burden on listed persons to prove ownership changes are legitimate.
President Trump announced that Sanctions would be lifted against Syria. The U.S. Treasury has designated multiple Chinese and Iranian entities supporting Iran's ballistic missile program, particularly those involved in manufacturing key components. This action targets sophisticated procurement networks supplying critical materials.
