In less than two weeks, ICS2 will go-live date for rail and road carriers – affecting the short straights between the EU and the UK. UK exporters are affected as their hauliers and freight agents need to submit information to the EU. The removal of exemptions under the U.S. Section 232 has placed EU and UK steel and Aluminum exports under new U.S. tariffs, with duties set at 25% on imports from March 12, 2025.
The European Commission has condemned these tariffs, calling them inconsistent with WTO rules, and has announced a two-part response strategy.
