Anti-Dumping Duty Updates

Why include updates on this topic?

An anti-dumping duty is an extra import tariff imposed on top of the standard customs duty and applicable throughout a customs region. Its purpose is to enable countries to take action against the sale of goods at a price below their usual value, which is determined as the cost for similar goods sold in the exporter's domestic market. Check out our exclusive blog section on Anti-Dumping Duty for the most recent updates, informative articles, videos, and news. https://www.customsmanager.info/all-news/categories/_add

2) Measures to address Chinese dumping of solar modules, threatening the European solar industry - Tough Questions from MEP to the EU Commission

The development of a vibrant European solar industry is paramount to the continent’s long-term energy and economic security. According to the latest Commission report on EU trade defence instruments, ‘dumped and subsidised imports from China remain the greatest challenge causing damage to European manufacturing industry’. Industry data suggests that solar modules from China sold for 50 % of their production cost are flooding the EU market. While this influx can help the deployment of solar power in Europe in the short term, imports at dumped costs open the door to products benefiting from unfair market and labour conditions. The EU needs to rapidly step up its support for the industrial solar value chain in Europe, and maintain it in the long term, to avoid repeating the policy mistakes which decimated our solar industry in the previous decade.

Answer given by Executive Vice-President Dombrovskis on behalf of the European Commission here.

This competition will severely impact European farmers, who must comply with stricter health and environmental standards. Despite the EU's claims to be committed to the environment, the proposed transportation of increasing amounts of goods across the Atlantic contradicts this commitment. Additionally, French President Emmanuel Macron has abandoned his initial opposition to the trade agreement.

The European Commission's Executive Vice-President, Dombrovskis, responded to these questions on behalf of the Commission. You can find the answers to these questions here.

Brazil's President Lula and the Swedish Presidency of the Council are calling for the swift signing of the free trade agreement between the EU and Mercosur.
